Your itinerary in Full

Day 1 – Arrive into Delhi

On arrival at Delhi airport, our partners representative will meet you in the arrivals area of the airport after you clear all immigration and custom formalities. He will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel for the next two nights, the highly-rated ITC Hotel Maurya (5 star).

The rest of the day is yours to relax in the comfort of your hotel or start exploring the sights and tastes that Delhi has to offer.

After breakfast this morning, you will embark on a full day tour of Old and New Delhi.

The tour will begin today with a visit to the Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques. It was built of red sandstone and marble by more than 5,000 artisans.

Later, visit Chandni Chowk, Asia’s largest wholesale market, a massive area packed with shops, bazaars, and people. Drive past the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century.

Also visit Raj Ghat, a simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Proceed towards New Delhi, which reflects the legacy left behind by the British. The first stop will be the UNESCO World Heritage Site Qutub Minar, the second-tallest minaret in India.

It is made of red stone and marble and is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the Qur’an. Later, visit the 16th-century Humayun’s Tomb, the first garden tomb on the Indian subcontinent – an outstanding monument in the Indo-Persian style and a precursor to the Taj Mahal.

The tour of Imperial Delhi will also include a drive past India Gate, the 42-metre-high war memorial arch, Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings, and the Vice Regal Palace, now the official residence of the President of India.

After breakfast, you will be assisted with a departure transfer to Delhi Airport to board your flight to Chandigarh.

Upon arrival at Chandigarh Airport, drive to Shimla (115 km / approximately 3.5 hours).

Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, lies in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of 2,159 metres and is known for its cool climate and scenic views of river valleys, pine forests, apple orchards, and terraced mountains. It serves as a gateway to the northern regions, including Kashmir and the Kullu and Spiti Valleys. Upon arrival in Shimla, check in at your hotel, the picturesque Oberoi Cecil Hotel. 

The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the Mall Road, the city’s main commercial and social hub, visit the lively local bazaars, or enjoy the natural beauty surrounding the city. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After a delightful breakfast, set out for a memorable journey aboard the ‘Toy Train’ (Himalayan Queen) from Shimla to Tara Devi.

Upon arrival at Tara Devi Railway Station, you will be picked up and driven back to Shimla.

The rest of the day is dedicated to exploring the charming hill town, beginning with a guided Shimla city tour. Visit the historic Vice Regal Lodge, once the seat of British power, along with the century-old church and temple located near the Mall Road. Proceed to the famous Scandal Point, situated at the end of the Mall Road, renowned for its scenic and picturesque views.

Later, enjoy time at Shimla’s iconic Mall Road, often referred to as the heart of the city, lined with vibrant shops, showrooms, departmental stores, cafés, and restaurants—truly a shopper’s paradise. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast at The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla, enjoy a relaxed day at leisure. You may choose to spend the day unwinding at the hotel, taking advantage of its elegant ambience, panoramic views, and world-class hospitality, or venture out to further explore Shimla at your own pace. Optional activities you may choose to do include leisurely walks along the Mall Road, café hopping, shopping for local handicrafts, or visiting nearby attractions.

The day is free to relax and indulge according to personal preferences, followed by an overnight stay at the hotel.

This morning after a final breakfast in Shimla, it will soon be time to pack your bags and prepare for your transfer back to Chandigarh airport for your flight back to Delhi. 

Upon arrival back into Delhi, you will be transferred back to the familiar ITC Hotel Maurya (5 star) for your overnight stay, before your voyage of a lifetime tomorrow.

Assemble at Delhi Railway Station, where you will be greeted and assisted on board the luxury train and shown to your private cabin.

After settling into your luxurious cabin, enjoy welcome drinks as the train departs Delhi at around 18:00 hrs, beginning its royal voyage towards Agra.

Enjoy breakfast onboard before setting out to explore this timeless symbol of love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Discover the rich history and exquisite architecture of this marble masterpiece and capture unforgettable moments.

Continue to the majestic Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once served as the seat of Mughal power. After lunch, return to the train as it departs for Rajasthan. Dinner and overnight stay aboard the Deccan Odyssey.

Enjoy a lavish breakfast onboard as the Deccan Odyssey arrives in Sawai Madhopur, the gateway to the renowned Ranthambhore National Park.

Begin your exploration with a visit to the magnificent City Palace, an architectural masterpiece overlooking Lake Pichola and home to the exquisite Crystal Gallery.

Continue with a guided walking tour through the Old City, where narrow lanes and heritage buildings reveal the city’s timeless charm.

Enjoy a lavish lunch featuring local specialties at a charming venue. Later, return to the Deccan Odyssey as it prepares for the next leg of the journey. Dinner and overnight stay aboard the train.

Start your day with breakfast onboard as the Deccan Odyssey arrives in Jodhpur, famously known as the “Blue City” for its striking blue-painted houses.

Arrive in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, famously known as the “Pink City.”

Early this morning, enjoy breakfast on board before disembarking at Delhi Safdarjung Station, marking the conclusion of your royal journey aboard the Deccan Odyssey.

After yor final breakfast in India this morning, it will soon be time to check-out of your hotel as your holiday comes to an end.
