Your Cologne at Christmas by First Class rail Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 – London to Cologne

Your short break begins as you enter iconic St Pancras International and head for the continent aboard Eurostar to Brussels. Sit back, relax and make the most of your light meal and drinks as you journey to the Belgian capital at speeds of up to 186 mph. You then join the high-speed and high-quality ICE service to Cologne.

On arrival, check in for three nights at the comfortable, ideally located Hotel Mondial am Dom (4 star), ideally situated close to both the station and the cathedral.

Days 2 and 3 – Cologne and its Christmas Markets

You have two full days in Cologne to soak up the truly festive atmosphere of Christmas time in Cologne. There are seven markets to choose from, each with its own unique character, offering a varied selection of seasonal gifts and decorations, sweets, arts and crafts, as well as traditional stalls selling sausages, wine and beer. Perhaps start your day beneath the biggest Christmas tree in Rhineland at the principal market on bustling Roncalliplatz next to the magnificent cathedral.

Then make your way to the wonderful floating market held on-board a cruise ship on the Rhine. Be sure to visit the medieval market at the Chocolate Museum with musicians, acrobats and craftsmen. In between shopping at the fantastic markets take some time to discover Cologne, its elegant squares, majestic cathedral and beautiful Romanesque churches.

Days 4 - Cologne to London

This morning after a leisurely start to the day you have time to hunt for some last-minute bargains.

You have until mid-afternoon in Cologne, so plenty of time for shopping or sightseeing. Then make your way back to Cologne station and travel by ICE high-speed train in First Class to Brussels. Here you join the Eurostar service. Relax in your comfortable seat and enjoy your at seat meal and drinks as you reflect on the last few days of your short break before arriving into London St. Pancras International.
