Brandenburg Gate at night Berlin

Let us start with perhaps one of the most historically important and famous landmarks in Berlin- the iconic Brandenberg Gate. Located in the west of the city and erected between 1788 and 1791, the Brandenburg Gate once symbolised the divided city, however during more recent times since the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is now seen as a symbol of European unity and peace.

Just a few minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate is the famous Reichstag building. This historic building is the seat of the constitutional and legislative body of Germany, the Bundestag.

Reichstag Building Berlin

Walk around the dome and enjoy incredible panoramic views of the city. With stunning architecture and a free audio guide as you walk around the building a visit here comes highly recommended. On the roof terrace of the Reichstag building incredibly there is a restaurant serving modern German cuisine.

A top tip is to book tickets for the Reichstag online in advance, entrance is free but for security reasons you do have to register first.

If you’re a self-confessed culture vulture then a trip to Museum Island would be high on the list.

Museum Island Berlin

A unique ensemble of five museums and classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, no wonder one million people a year visit this hub of history & art.

Located on an island along the River Spree in the district of Mitte, this really is a must see attraction.

If you’re interested in sporting history, a visit to the Olymplastadion will not disappoint, or for those looking to understand more about the darker past of Berlin & Germany you may like to pay your respects at the Berlin Holocaust museum.
