Our Imperial Cities holiday is an eleven night holiday encompassing Prague, Budapest and Vienna with overnight stays in Munich and Nuremberg.

Prague with its majestic old town and scenic squares is a stunning city, with plenty to see. Highlights include the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Wenceslas Square and the Josefov Jewish Quarter.

Budapest features a whole range of historic monuments including the Budapest Parliament building, St Stephan’s Basilica and the State Opera. The Castle District with its quaint narrow streets, old citizen houses and medieval atmosphere is a great place for anyone wanting to learn about the culture and history of Budapest. The Royal Palace is another must-see and houses a number of different museums and exhibitions.

The Austrian capital of Vienna is steeped in European history and this delightful city is full of fascinating buildings to wander around, including the famous ferris wheel.

Munich the bustling Bavarian capital is famous for its legendary beer festival Oktoberfest and don’t leave Germany’s third largest city without trying currywurst. Nuremberg with its charming old town has a whole range of fascinating museums and buildings such as the Kaiserburg.

The Imperial Cities rail holiday begins when you enter London St. Pancras station, where you will board the train for your journey towards Munich. You will have some free time in Munich, particularly if you take the overnight sleeper option. Before you continue to Budapest for your three night stay at the highly-rated Palazzo Zichy (4 star).

When in Budapest you have two full days to explore the city. There is plenty to see and do in this fabulous city, why not pay a visit to one of the famous thermal spas. With over 118 thermal springs in Budapest to choose from you are sure to find one.

The next destination is Prague where you will be staying for three nights. Wander around exploring this gorgeous city and take in the breath-taking sights. Prague is well known for its amazing culture and atmospheric city squares and is the perfect place to try some delicious local cuisine. Here your luxurious accommodation is at the Hotel General (5 star).

Leaving Prague behind, you will board the Euro City train as you travel into Austria to the wonderful city of Vienna. Staying at the excellent Wilhelmshof Hotel (4 star) which is centrally located just a short 15 minute walk away from all of the major attractions such as the State Opera. The hotel boasts elegantly furnished rooms with air conditioning, satellite TV and internet access, relax in style after a busy day of sightseeing. Why not toast your holiday so far and enjoy a drink in the stylish hotel bar.

After a delicious last breakfast at the hotel, board the high speed ICE service to Nuremberg.  Once in Nuremberg you will have the day and next morning. Stay at the modern NH Nurnberg City (4 star) hotel just 450 metres from the train station and near the heart of the city.
