High Speed Author Signings on-board Virgin Trains

This autumn, Virgin Trains have launched the UK’s first ever high speed book signings, which will take place on their West Coast route. A whole range of well-known authors have already been confirmed including Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbo, British writer Joanna Trollope and comedian turned author Ruby Wax. The dates and specific train routes are been released through the Virgin Trains Facebook page.

All of the authors who will be taking part have either recently brought out or are soon to be publishing new books, and Virgin Trains are offering passengers the chance to own a signed copy and meet the author. Announcements over the tannoy system will give out all of the necessary information on where to purchase a book and invite travellers to meet the author and get their copy of the book personalised and signed.

‘Authors routinely travel the country to book signing sessions so we thought why not use the time travelling to sign some more’, Jim Rowe, Virgin Trains Senior Communications Manager.

The man behind the bestselling Harry Hole crime series, Jo Nesbo was the first author to take part in the rail book signings. He was travelling on the 9.41am train from Preston to Glasgow, and heading to the annual Scotland International Crime Writing Festival. With many more famous authors lined up, Virgin could completely change a mundane commute into a truly memorable train journey.
