Your Orient Express Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 – London Heathrow to Vienna

Your holiday begins as you check-in for your flight from London Heathrow (or a regional alternative) airport to Vienna International Airport.

On arrival at Vienna make your way to your transfer to the luxurious Kaiserhof Hotel (4 star) offering dedication to detail, warmth and a charming service.

Enjoy 2 nights discovering the charms of Vienna. The Hotel Kaiserhof enjoys an excellent  location in Vienna, offering easy access to all the city’s principal attractions.

Day 2 – Vienna

You have a full day to explore Vienna and visit some of the buildings and monuments that tell the story of this delightful European city.

As a former Imperial capital, Vienna boasts a rich cultural heritage – and many of its elegant public buildings are situated on the Ringstrasse, the fascinating inner ring road which encircles the city’s historical core.

Highlights of the city include the impressive Hofburg Palace, which was the seat of the Hapsburg dynasty for more than 600 years.

Alternatively discover the magnificent Baroque Belvedere Palace with its fabulous collection of works by Gustav Klimt or one of the other world class museums and galleries.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral, located in the very heart of Vienna, is one of the most distinctive buildings in the city with its bright tiled roof; the views from the top of the tower are virtually unrivalled.

You might like to discover more about Beethoven during your stay. The composer lived in Vienna for 35 years and composed much of his work here.

His residence is now the Beethoven Museum, there is a monument on Beethovenplatz and his tomb is in the main cemetery.

Vienna’s House of Music also presents Beethoven in great detail, in the context of his work.

Vienna also boasts a wealth of traditional coffee houses where you can sit and watch the world go by before a trip further afield to the evocative Rococo style Schönbrunn Palace, one of the most popular attractions in the Austrian capital.

Day 3 - Your journey aboard the Orient Express begins

This morning your private transfer will take you to the station. Here you board the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Your steward will show you to your private cabin and will attend you throughout your journey.

As you settle into your comfortable cabin, discover interiors straight from fiction. Polished marquetry, plush upholstery and gleaming furnishings are framed by soft lighting.

Bar Car 3674 is open for aperitifs before lunch, which is served in the elegant restaurant cars.

Here, both the décor and menus are infused with Michelin Starred Chef Jean Imbert´s unparalleled imagination.

Seasonality and provenance are key to his creations, with many specialities sourced from artisan producers along the route.

After time to relax and soak up the views, you are invited back to the restaurant for a Champagne tasting and a quiz on Veuve Clicquot wines. Winners will be able to claim their prizes at the bar. The afternoon continues in a leisurely fashion with games until teatime.

As evening falls, dress to the nines for an aperitif, followed by a spectacular gala dinner crafted by Chef Jean Imbert.

Brimming with seasonal specialities and local flavours, the menu is complemented by exceptional wines.

After dinner, compelling entertainment and charismatic conversations can be enjoyed until the early hours in Bar Car `3674´.

When you are ready, retire to your compartment, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 4 – Visit the Veuve Clicquot domain, onto Paris & your journey home

The morning starts with a Champagne sunrise celebration in your cabin.

Later, you arrive in Reims and alight for a short journey to romantic Verzy Manor, part of the Veuve Clicquot domain for over 100 years.

During a delightful morning, you will visit the vegetable garden and picturesque vineyards, set beneath the Montagne de Reims, and enjoy a tasting at the pressing centre.

A delicious lunch is hosted in the time-honoured cellars by Michelin-starred chefs Jean Imbert and Mory Sacko, followed by a fascinating tour.

Return to the train for your final scenic journey, sipping an exquisite French cocktail on the way.

All too soon, Venice Simplon-Orient-Express pulls into Paris.

From here your private taxi transfer takes you across the French capital before your connecting Eurostar takes you back to the UK. Alternatively enjoy one or more nights in Paris to experience the gallic charm and history of this romantic city.
